Assistant Professor of Sports Science and Rehabilitation

- Salary: KRW 60,000,000 – 75,000,000 annually, before tax (commensurate with qualifications and experience). Exceptional candidates may be considered for a higher salary.
About the Department
The Department of Sports Science and Rehabilitation offers a comprehensive curriculum that integrates sports science, rehabilitation science, and exercise physiology. Students receive in-depth training in injury prevention, treatment, exercise rehabilitation, and health promotion. Through evidence-based education and practical experience, students develop the ability to analyze the causes of sports injuries and apply the latest rehabilitation techniques. The program also emphasizes athletic training knowledge and skills, preparing graduates for careers in sports medicine, rehabilitation, and health-related fields.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Teach 15 credit hours per semester.
- Develop and update course materials to ensure academic rigor and industry relevance.
- Provide academic advising, career guidance, and mentorship to students.
- Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation processes.
- Participate in departmental and university committees, academic events, and student activities.
- Support the mission of the department and university through service activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department chair or dean.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DAT) in Athletic Training or a closely related field.
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC).
- Licensed (or license-eligible) Athletic Trainer in any U.S. state.
- Knowledge of CAATE standards and educational competencies.
- Contemporary expertise in athletic training.
- Minimum of five years of teaching and/or clinical experience in athletic training.
- Previous experience as a Coordinator of Clinical Education or experience working in a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training Program.
- Certified CPR instructor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
- Certification in exercise rehabilitation for elderly or chronic disease populations.

- Rehabilitation Programming for Athletic Injuries
(Final course assignments will be determined by departmental needs.)
Compensation and Benefits
- Housing: Faculty housing provided (subject to availability).
- Relocation: Round-trip economy class airfare reimbursement for international hires.
- Settlement Allowance: KRW 100,000 per day (up to 15 days) for early arrival prior to the start date.
- Vacation: 20 paid working days per year.
- Insurance & Pension: National Health Insurance and Korea Teachers’ Pension (approx. 9% employee contribution).
- Research Funding: Eligible for competitive research grants based on publications:
▶ Scopus-Indexed Journal (Single Author): KRW 5,000,000 per paper
▶ SCI-Indexed Journal (Single Author): KRW 5,000,000 per paper
▶ KCI-Indexed Journal (Single Author): KRW 3,000,000 per paper + additional KRW 2,000,000 per paper (up to KRW 7,000,000 annually)
*For multi-author papers, funding is allocated proportionally per university policy.
