Documents Required for Newly Appointed Foreign Faculty
Newly appointed faculty members at Woosong University are required to prepare and submit specific documents at each stage of the recruitment, immigration, and appointment process. Please review the summary below carefully and refer to the attached document for detailed requirements and samples.
Step 1. Documents Required for Hiring Process
To initiate the hiring process, the following documents must be submitted in English to the Human Resources Department:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Cover Letter
- Scanned Copy of Passport
(Valid for at least six months beyond the intended start date)

- Degree Diplomas or Certificates of Graduation
(All degrees earned: Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral)
- Academic Transcripts for each degree
- Official Employment Verification Letters or Career Certificates

- Relevant Professional Certifications (if applicable)
(e.g., TESOL, Culinary License, Teacher Certification)
- Research Publications from the Last Three Years (if applicable)
- Alien Registration Card (ARC) (if already issued)
- Passport-Style Photograph
(JPG format, taken within the last six months, compliant with passport photo standards)
Additional Documents for Accompanying Family Members (If Applicable)
Faculty members entering South Korea with dependents must submit the following for the F-3 dependent visa application:
- Passport copy for each family member
- Passport-style photo (JPG format) for each family member
- Official documents verifying family relationship
▶ Apostilled Marriage Certificate (spouse)
▶ Apostilled Birth Certificate (children)
- Letter of Guarantee (official form provided by the university)
Step 2. Documents to Prepare Before Entering South Korea
Prior to arrival in South Korea, the following documents must be prepared:
- Verified Copy or Original of Highest Degree Diploma
(One of the following is required: original, apostille, or Korean consular notarization)
- Apostilled Criminal Background Certificate (CBC)
(Issued by the national government of the home country)
- Five Passport-Sized Photographs (35×45mm)
(Taken within the last six months)
Step 3. Procedures After Arrival in South Korea
After entering South Korea, faculty members must complete the following procedures:
- Visit the Daejeon Immigration Office
▶ Apply for an Alien Registration Card (ARC), or
▶ Change visa status to E-1 (Professor) if required
- Open a salary bank account (KEB Hana Bank – Daejeon Station Branch)
- Complete a medical examination and drug test at a designated hospital
- Submit notarized translations if required
(e.g., Criminal Background Certificate or Marriage Certificate)
Step 4. Final Confirmation and University Forms
Before final appointment, faculty members must submit remaining documents and complete required Woosong University employment forms, including personal records, agreements, and consent forms.
