Death Condolence Allowance — Teachers’ Pension
The Death Condolence Allowance is a one-time benefit provided under the Teachers’ Pension Act for eligible family members when a teacher or school staff member covered by the Korea Teachers’ Pension (KTP) passes away. The purpose of this allowance is to support surviving family members following the death of an insured private school educator.

1. Who Is Eligible? (Beneficiaries)
- In the event of the member’s death:
An amount equal to twice (2×) the insured monthly standard income at the time of death
(Maximum: 1.6× the average monthly standard income of all public officials; Minimum: 0.5× the same average)
- In the event of a family member’s death (spouse, parents, or children):
An amount equal to 65% of the average monthly standard income of all public officials

2. When Is the Allowance Paid? (Circumstances)
The Death Condolence Allowance may be payable when a member of the Korea Teachers’ Pension scheme dies, regardless of whether they were actively employed or retired, provided they were insured under the Teachers’ Pension plan at the time of death and the conditions for the benefit are met under applicable pension law.

3. How Is the Death Condolence Allowance Amount Calculated?
The allowance is typically a lump-sum payment.
The specific amount can vary depending on factors such as:
 - The insured period (years of contributions to the Teachers’ Pension)
 - The type of pension benefit the deceased would have been entitled to receive
 - The pension calculation rules applicable under the Teachers’ Pension Act and Presidential Decree
Detailed calculation rules for the Death Condolence Allowance are determined under the Teachers’ Pension Act and its implementing regulations.
